Kitwe Center Honored by Zambian First Lady
Dear friends,
Calvary greetings to you all. We feel so blessed today to share with you how the work continues developing in 10 years since its inception. When we look back today, it has giving us strength to continue focusing on the Lord who has brought us this far. Having saved almost 3,800 babies from abortion, we are filled with the joy today. We recently have been checking on some of the children that are within reach and all we have been told by their parents is either, "this girl is the most intelligent one amongst the kids I have", or "This boy has started showing some responsibilities at an early stage." With all these good stories, we are always filled with joy. Our center also continues having children who are born as twins, this is so wonderful!
Silent Voices has and continues to work very hard to help women and mostly the youths in this nation Zambia. As many of you are aware that our nation has lost prominent people that could have been good leaders tomorrow from the HIV/AIDS Pandemic. With all the efforts our government has made, it has still been complaining that there has been little achievement through their programs, without recognising that condoms have lead and destroyed a lot of our youths. On the sad note we have more that 40% of those being born today with the HIV virus already. Besides Malaria and poverty issues, the infant mortality rate has been increased due HIV infection also. The government recently asked parents in the news paper last week to work very hard in educating their children on the dangers of casual sex. This occurred in an area where an 11 year old girl gave birth to twins. It has been very shocking. According to the Educational officer when he was speaking, he expressed disappointment that he has never seen any of the girls from that certain area finishing school or going to the university. If anything, everyone has been getting married in grade 4.
On the other hand, the government just recognised the work that Silent Voices has been doing and much more praised the fact that the program the ministry has been using has yielded so much fruit in some areas. And this is where it has been teaching the Word of God and transforming the youths’ lives. A lot of praised letters and thanks cards have been received and as well as more invitation letters to go and teach in communities and schools. One of the girls that has been our client since 4 years today, just came back to inform the Silent Voices office that she heard the message that was presented to her 4 years ago and that she went ahead to keep the pregnancy, made a decision not to have sex again before she is married and devoted herself to education and now she is a teacher. She also asked if she could use the same material to go and teach her students in school on the dangers of casual sex. We were so blessed to hear this wonderful news. Margie is now a teacher and gave life to her son who is 3 years old now.
With all the good news being spread, for the first time when our nation held our national agriculture show on the 30th of May, Silent Voices was the only ministry that was chosen by the first lady Maureen, and blessed the maternity home with a lot of groceries. Amongst the goods we received were baby nappies, Lactogen, mosquito nets, Vaseline, towels, etc. Once again, we feel so blessed that our government can recognise the good work today. We therefore thank you all who continue to pray for us and encourage in any way you continue doing. God bless you.
Blessings,
Barbra Mwansa, Director, Silent Voices
