Four attempts. Four failed abortions.
Roshan and Rina already had two sons. When they found out they were expecting a third child, a girl, they didn’t know what to do. Fear, uncertainty, and social pressure began to mount. Overwhelmed, they attempted a medical abortion. It failed. So they tried again. And again. All three medical abortions failed.
In desperation, they went in for a surgical abortion. It was now their fourth attempt. They had no idea it would change their lives drastically.
The doctor who was supposed to do the procedure refused. He told them firmly that he would not take their baby’s life. He even told them he’d rather adopt her than perform the procedure. Shaken, the couple sensed that God was speaking through the doctor. They chose to keep their baby.
Today, their daughter is six years old.
She fills their home with “laughter, love, and light,” and the couple refers to her as their greatest blessing. But she’s a blessing they don’t take lightly. They are deeply sobered by how close they came to missing the precious gift God had given them.
Roshan and Rina realize it was God’s grace that led them away from a decision they know would have brought a lifetime of guilt and regret. “Fear and pressure can cloud our judgment. But every child, boy or girl, is a gift. If our story can make even one family pause and choose life, then speaking about our past is worth it.”
Roshan and Rina believe in the power of declaring truth through sharing their story. Years ago, a doctor courageously spoke up for the value of their daughter’s life, helping redirect the course of their family forever. Today, Roshan and Rina are sharing that same message with others, encouraging more families to recognize the value of every child and choose life.
Four times they tried to end her life. Four times the Lord intervened. And because one person chose to speak truth, many others are now choosing life.
