LIFE International has partnered for many years with a ministry leader in Kathmandu, Nepal, named Elisha. Like thousands of others, Elisha lost his home on April 25, but that did not stop him from ministering the love of Jesus. Immediately after the earthquake, Elisha started assembling and distributing relief supplies to the affected people, even though his own home was uninhabitable.

Here is a story Elisha recently sent to us:

Last year a young woman named Sunita* was raped by a trusted member of her community, and she became pregnant. After learning of her pregnancy, Sunita’s parents kicked her out of her home, and then she was expelled from her community. When we learned of her situation, we took her in and provided care, and she determined to keep her baby.

Sunita was admitted to the hospital for the delivery of her baby on April 25—the same day of the massive earthquake that struck Nepal, and crippled the hospital. She was brought safely outside, where she gave birth that evening to a healthy baby girl. She spent many difficult and painful moments with her newborn baby in a makeshift tent, in constant fear of aftershocks.

Sunita named her baby Grace, because she says that it was only God’s grace that sustained her and her baby in the midst of calamity.

Nepal is one of dozens of nations—including DR Congo, China, and Cuba—where LIFE International has developed strategic partnerships in order to see human life valued, hearts healed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and lives saved—both physically and spiritually.

You may not be able to go with us to these nations, but your prayers and giftsmake ministry like Elisha’s possible.
